Dungeons & Dragons! Now with Pop-O-Matic Dice!

As I'm sure we've all heard, WotC has announced that the fifth edition of D&D is now in the works.

Yawn...

Unless WotC reinvents the wheel and comes up something truly spectacular that revitalizes tabletop fantasy role-playing (highly doubtful), I 'm just not interested. I've my got copies of Moldvay/Cook, the first edition trifecta (Player's Guide, DM's Guide, Monster Manual), my collection of retro-clone PDFs and books, Empire of the Petal Throne, my remote control, my ashtray...

AND THAT'S ALL I NEED!

  1. Pop-O-Matic pops the dice!

Roll a six and you hit twice!

  2. I'd actually buy a pop-o-matic d20 if they sold one. And maybe a 3d6. But that would be it. Except for maybe a d30. Yep. That's it. Just those three. And maybe a d12. But that's ABSOLUTELY it. Wait-

  3. I wish them all the best.

I fear that the development of 5e will be hijacked by ubergamers and developers that fall in love with their own ideas.

  4. The pop-o-matic crack is from an inside joke at my FLGS just after 4e came out. When Hasbro (let's be honest about who pulls WotC's strings) published 5e, they would have to dumb it down to the point where it would include either pop-o-matic dice or a "spinner" and the rules would be printed under the box lid.

  5. Not that TSR didn’t try things like that—Dragon Strike, anyone?
